Just How Frustrated Am I?

I suppose with a blog title such as this, one would be expected to ramble on about the erosion of American values, the loss of any semblance of the "American Dream", and the death of nationalistic pride. And maybe,in another post, on another day, those points will be addressed.

Today, though, I just want to get back into the rhythm of writing. Been a loooonnnggg time, ya know.

On a side note, Steve thinks I should've named this "Save the Apostrophe" or something; on account of my little "problem" of the OCD variety.

Oh, okay, here's a perfect first post, it even addresses the blog title: The Misuse of An Apostrophe in the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, in Springfield Illinois.
For heaven's sake, this is a museum and LIBRARY dedicated to a man who valued education, however it was attained. Little schoolchildren go there on Field Trips! Use your punctuation correctly! Two different placards identifying two different items misused the apostrophe in the same manner.

C'mon folks! Stop pluralizing with the apostrophe. It's easier than that! Here's a secret: ADD AN "S". That's all! Toy---toys. Boy---boys. When you pluralize and want to show possession of a proper name, such as with a family unit: belonging to the Lincoln family---Lincolns'. Or, you can add that extra "s"---Lincolns's. This would connote that the item belonged to not just ol' honest Abe, but to his family, en masse. "...On the Lincolns' second trip..."
Why does the curator of a friggin' PRESIDENTIAL Library and Museum not know this? And why, when informed of this error, was it not corrected?
Because, you know I did inform them. My sleep was restless until I did. Or, let me correct myself: until I tried to inform them. Emails, phone calls (and I live in California), finally a letter. Still don't know for sure if it was received. I know it was not heeded.

Wow. Quite a sidenote, huh? Just keeping the theme of the title of this blog: Ramblings. And, boy howdy! I did. How's that for success?
